Choppie, Laingsburg’s own mascot sheep and BAKgat bus driver Hilton invites all our Bellville Athletic Club members to share in the fun of the 44th Newton Karoo Marathon, only 240 km from Bellville on the N1 North to Laingsburg.
This year promises to be a fun weekend for the Bellville Athletic Club at the Laingsburg races; in its 44th year of existence. Friday evening the 3rd of October 2014 will be the registration evening for the Karoo Ultra and other road races at the Lainsburg Flood Museum. There will also be delicious food stalls the Friday evening and again a Farmers Market the next morning. The official charity PinkDrive and Cape Nature will also have stalls and exhibitions.
As in previous years the Laingsburg beauty queens and their princesses will provide all the glamour during the prize giving at the Laingsburg Sports Grounds Hall. After the prize giving there will be a lovely plate of Karoo lamb ‘’braaivleis’’ ready for everybody who buy a meal ticket with their entry or at registration the previous evening. The participants of the 21km/10km en 5km races will also be able to purchase tickets for the braai at the registration of athletes on Friday evening and morning. Real Karoo lamb – you won’t find better anywhere else!
If you have been resting on your laurels for too long after Comrades, because of the harsh winter weather or haven’t been training as regularly as you should have and consequently won’t be ready for the 80 km in the ‘’Moodenaars-Karoo’’, look at the shorter alternatives: 21 km or 10 km or 5 km.
Pre-Entries close on Friday 12th September 2014. No late entries for the Ultra!
