At a recent IAAF Council meeting, certain IAAF Rule changes were approved. IAAF Rule 250.5 was changed to read as follows:
Distances at the IAAF World Cross-Country Championships should be approximately:
Men - 10km
Women - 10km
Junior Men - 8km
Junior Women - 6km
The IAAF stated that the rule shall be in force as from 1 November 2015, but the ASA Cross Country Commission recommended that ASA implement this rule change with immediate effect. The program of the SA Cross Country Championships, scheduled for 12 September 2015, will be adjusted accordingly.
Provinces have been requested to implement this rule change in their league meetings and provincial championships in preparation for the SA Championships. The WPA Cross Country Commission confirmed that from the 5th league at Koeberg, the Cross Country League programme was amended.
